The
Review of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
I don’t have a lot of hobbies,
but watch a musical should definitely be one of the few hobbies of mine. This
past Friday, I went to see the musical that produced by Cheshire Academy’s
teachers and students with my friends. It was called The 25th Annual
Putnam County Spelling Bee.
I’ve watched quite a few of
musicals before, and my favorite Broadway musical is Phantom of the Opera.
Before watching this musical, I searched some information about this musical.
According to the online information, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling
Bee is a musical comedy conceived by Rebecca Feldman. It takes place in the
Putnam Valley Middle School, and it has six adolescents compete in the spelling
bee which run by three equally grown-ups. The musical was based upon
C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, an original improvisational play created by Rebecca
Feldman. Although I knew what it’s about, I got shocked when they called some
random people went on the stage. This kind of thing never happened in my
musical watching experiences before. It made me feel excited because there were
two teachers I knew were up there. This kind of unconscious surprise that made
the audience involved in the musical was creative and gave the show much more
fun. The show was about children with different kinds of personalities
competing in the spelling bee. The story was about these children. No matter
they won at last or not, they all won because they found themselves during the
competition-their true personalities. At last, to win the prize was not
important anymore because they gained friendships, love, and dreams, which were
more important than the final result.
I like this musical because of a lot of
reasons, the unexpected interaction with the audience, the beautiful music, and
the colorful lights and background drawings were all very attracted. I noticed
that there were many people playing different kinds of instruments behind the
stage. I really appreciated their efforts behind the scene. All the actors and
the players were hard working, and they were all perfect actors and players.
All in all, I liked this musical a lot, and I
would definitely recommend it to my friends since everybody put efforts and
heart in this musical. I think it was the best musical I’ve seen recently.
