Accept
the rule by your heart
“Hey, everyone! Please remember to choose
your three seasons of afternoon activities online!” Mr. Torrey who is the director of the afternoon activities always says that
to us at the beginning of every school year starts. This is our school policy
that we need to choose three seasons of afternoon activities with two
competitive and one noncompetitive. The school policy right now is a perfect status for students at Cheshire Academy. Students should be free to
choose three different afternoon activities depend on one’s strengths and
interests with two competitive and one noncompetitive activity. It’s always a
great time for most of the students during the time we practice in the
afternoon activity.
Many people dislike this policy, but it
actually benefits all of us because doing sports and activities make better
health. Nowadays, more and more teenagers are obese because they are lack of
exercise. They choose to eat and sit there all day long without even move their
eyes. Being lazy describes as cool around teenagers. Students dislike this
policy only because it takes over their free time. During the free time, most
of the students would choose to stay in dorm, and many of them would choose to
play video games. When you doing sports whether outside or inside, you are not
remain seated. Many competitive sports such as basketball, tennis, and softball
make you practice two hours a day, and you will get enough oxygen that you won’t
get indoor. Besides, your make your heart, lungs, and even your whole body
become more and more healthier.
When you doing the afternoon activities, there
is no doubt that you will make friends. Many activities and sports contain
communications and team works. This is how I meet my best friend and teammate
in the first year at Cheshire Academy. I was in JV tennis, and my coach asked
me to play in doubles in the first game of mine. I was kind of nervous and didn’t
know whom should I play this game with. Then, Wu came to me and said that she
would love to play the game with me. We were always in one team during daily
practices, and we communicated and knew each other’s strengths. The first game
for me was fairly tough. Our opponents were younger than us, but they were
really strong and hit the ball nice and fast. I was shocked we had quite a
competitor. Certainly, I was stressful, but Wu knew I was nervous and comforted
me tin order for me to calm down. She said it was just a game, and no one always
wins a game. To be concentrate in the game is enough for both of us. During the
game, we communicated with each other about the strategies and cheered each
other up. Finally, although we lost the game, I learned so much from my first
game that we should communicate. Most importantly, I understand our team spirit:
do not thinking about win or lose, just concentrate and enjoy every game we play.
After that, I always feel relax when I’m playing tennis. Playing tennis makes
my brain thinking fast, and I feel pressure released after playing tennis. One
fact is that I become a fast thinker after playing tennis, which means I became
smarter and smarter.
Now, I don’t see the three seasons of the
afternoon activities as a pressure, or a rule that I must do because the school
requires me to do it. I see it as a chance. It’s a chance to make my body
healthy, a chance to meet new friends, and a chance to be smart.
